(for
larger groups, consider our Riverwood
Lodge just 3/4 mile away, to sleep an additional
8-12 guests. Our Firefly
Lodge property is about 1 1/2 mile away and
sleeps an additional 8-10 guests. Lastly, our property
Northwoods Lodge (also 1 1/2 mile away) sleeps
an additional 4-8 guests.
THE
OLD RIVER LODGE is a 3 1/2 story, lodge-style,
rustic home built in the 1930's. From it's riverside decks and
balconies you are offered spectacular views of the river and surrounding
hills. This historic home is our most "cabin-like" property.
It is very charming with a large, attractive "Great Room"
for entertaining, and is clean and comfortably equipped for your
enjoyment. Two rooms have one queen-size bed each. A third room
(the master suite) has one queen-size bed and an additional single
bed that can be used there or wheeled out into the adjacent game
room. There is also a full / double bed in the game room. The
three story home has two full baths and a half bath. One full
bath is located on the upper level, the half bath is on the main
level, and another full bath is in the master suite on the lower
level.

EXTERIOR
This
charming, rustic, lodge style structure has lots of authentic
character. It was built in the 1930's along the riverbank
on South Fitch Mountain in Healdsburg in a location with
commanding views both of the river and the surrounding hills. |
GREAT
ROOM
| The
great room has soaring open beamed ceilings and hand hewn
beams. Wood is used everywhere. Two comfortable leather sofas
surround the wood-buring fireplace and the dining table for
8+ sits adjacent to the main deck (with 5 person Marquis spa).
The view is superb!. |
KITCHEN
| The
large, sunny kitchen invites you to enjoy breakfast with a
river view! The kitchen is adjacent to the great room and
has a door to access the main deck for outdoor dining and
grilling. |
GAME
ROOM
There
are a game table and games, two chairs, a television, and
a futon that sleeps two. A sliding door opens to the covered
deck with additional seating, hammack and views of the river. |
BATHROOMS
Our
bathrooms have many authentic period fixtures dating from
the 1930's.
The upper level bath has a shower over
a bath and charming period decor.
The main level bath is a half bath located
just off the great room and kitchen.
The lower level private master bath is
large and well appointed. It has a shower over a bath, and
adjoins the master suite. |

Two of the rooms have fantastic river views. A third room
has views of a wooded hillside. All of the rooms have queen
size beds with 100% cotton linens, and down alternative
comforters. A 4th sleeping area (the game room) has a full
size bed. Additionally, there is a twin size bed in the
master (queen size) suite. |

has two closets. (One is a large, walk-in size closet, which
stores spare linens, pillows, and blankets, an iron and ironing
board.) There is a second closet for hanging clothes, and
storing items.) A twin bed in the master suite may be helpful
for those who are traveling with a child. The master bathroom
adjoins the master suite. |

In the
game room there is a high-quality futon that is made into
a full/double bed. It's a very comfortable sleeping option,
with a high quality mattress, cotton linens, and a down alternative
comforter. |
Location:

The Game
Room is located on the lower level. It is located at the bottom
of the flight of stairs from the Great Room. The Game Room
has a sliding door to the covered deck on the lower level.
The Master Suite sits adjacent to this room. |

The
decor is comfortable, and reminiscent of an earlier era. |
DECKS
/ SPA
The
main level deck opens to the Great Room through French doors,
as well as opening to the kitchen. There is a five person
Marquis spa located here. The river views from this deck are
spectacular. There is a gas fired BBQ and a glass topped table
for outdoor dining. In warmer months, a shade cloth provides
partial shade for this deck.
The lower level deck is partially covered for enjoyment in
all types of weather, and partially uncovered to take advantage
of the sun's rays, if desired. Here the views are incredible,
as well. There are a table and chairs, and a hammack for your
relaxation. From the deck, a sliding door leads to the game
room, and another sliding door leads to the master suite.
A gate leads from the deck to steps that descend to the beach
and private dock for launching the two kayaks. |
DOCK
The dock at the river level is made of concrete. It is similar to a poolside deck, and is close to the water level (in season - typically May-October). We provide two kayaks for your use which may be launched here, and fishing from the dock is great. Or, just relax and enjoy the views, or go for a swim. (Ask about our Winter Fisherman's Getaway rates - Steelhead and salmon fishing are possible from right here at our dock!)
